Flying from Gatwick we arrived in Oslo after roughly an hour and half flight. We were 20 minutes early due to a tail wind. So chilled at the airport, enjoying a super panini and coffee. We then watched as a flight due to depart after us, leave before us. This will soon be known as Norweigian time. Due to no one being on time for anything. After a 14 hour day that started with us leaving Wales at 8am, we arrived at Tromso (pronounced Trom-sa) at 11pm. Late due to a heavy snow fall on the runway. Straight in a taxi we arrived at the hotel. Dropping our bags, we donned our hat, gloves and ski jackets and headed down the hill for town. A quick walk around in the snow laden streets. A bacon wrapped hotdog, that nearly didnt happen as I skated on the ice outside the shop. Cartoon characters, with out of control legs and body would describe that scene.

Up early the next day, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel before heading off in search of a day trip to fill in the day. I really wanted to do a reindeer trip or fjords tour. Id previously booked a northern lights tour and dog sledding for the coming days. The tourist office was fab and had us booked on a van fjords tour due to start within the hour. Off to the meeting point, the guide a local turned up and off we went. I must admit this was one of those tours that exceeded expectations. The fjords are simply magnificent, so many colours with the sun, lighting and reflections off the snow. We made it all the way out to Sommaray Island. Paninis and coffee to warm up before heading back as darkness fell at 2pm. Well worth the money spent. We were going to head up the cable car. But this one night decided to be the foggiest yet. A wander on foot instead around the harbour. Sitting on the harbour is a sauna, where you can see people jump off into the freezing waters, before climbing back in the sauna. Cold water therapy eat ya heart out, thats for the crazy only in -10 degrees. Maybe next time, ill think about doing it.
