I love Italy, always have done and always will. Milan is one of the few places we haven’t been in Italy. So why not combine a trip to Monza and the formula one. Our trip started with a 7am taxi ride to Cardiff airport with connecting flights to Milan via Amsterdam. At check in i was told i would have to check my hand luggage as the flight was full. Freaking out id be left with lost luggage and no clothes to wear for 4 days. We upgraded for £60 each. This included the lounge so hey, why not. Sitting on our flight Jas enjoying his extra leg room. Waiting for take off, the pilot and team are inspecting the wing, it has scratches. Next thing the flights cancelled we disembark only to be told heres a sheet with your QR codes for vouchers we have booked everyone on other flights. Our flight 31, yes 31 hours later. We are going to the F1. The couple next to us on a cruise at 8pm from Bergen. Whilst standing in queue to talk to check in, the guys next to us say they are going to Birmingham. Before you know it we are sharing their taxi and im booking another flight from that airport. We finally made it to Milan and to our hotel at 10pm.

Ready for Saturday Qualifying day at 7am for breakfast we board our transfer bus to Monza. The atmosphere exciting as fans calmly feed into the circuit. We get some merchandise for me and head to find our seats. Jas totally unaware of where ive picked. Well what good seats. Opposite the end of the pit lane, we can see the last corner, entry to pit lane and the chequered flag. We also have a huge tv opposite and are under the shade out of the 27 degree heat. Saturday and Sunday was fab. It was the 75th Italian GP and the fastest yet. All the races and the crowds. Especially the tifosi crowding the track after the race.

Milan was a quick trip in on Monday morning. 1 tram and 4 metros later as after being on the tram for 5 mins and then the driver stopping. Hes going 100 miles an hour in Italian. I understood car, traffic, hour that was about it. I then asked a lovely girl in Italian if she could help us. She got us on three different metro lines before having to leave for work. Another trip maybe needed to enjoy all that Milan offers. We love the food and culture of Italy. And the Monza formula one was amazing, if you want to go to a F1 race this is a must.
