The beautiful island of KRK in Croatia, one of the larger islands surrounded by its rocky shores and turquoise green waters. Everyone has raved about Croatia and it truly is beautiful. One of the fab things here are the gecko/ lizards-brown with a green patterned top, I could watch them for hours shooting off along the ground. We started our trip in Njivice in the north, but are currently down on the south-west at the town of KRK. An ancient town that has what they call four gates, which are the entrances to the historic town. No gates are actually there though just ancient walls. A grand cathedral and churches dot the old town. Boats in the marina and cafes lining the streets. The local currency is the Kuna, we are so used to working in Euros, I must admit we feel a little lost working things out. The weather here has been very hot, a dip in the ocean is a relief, the dogs are loving a swim every day. A dog shower required after to get the heavy layer of salt off. Today we walked the coastal path to the historic old town and passed many a beautiful bay. One was dedicated to dogs so in they went on the way back. Poor George he hasn’t drunk so much salt water before, so he tends to have a puke at 3-5am in the morning. Jas has learnt how to leap out of bed super fast to let him out. We are staying at a 5 star resort a bit of a luxury for us but here in Croatia its illegal to wild camp. Aires or camperstops tend to be more expensive so campsites are eating into our budget quite a bit. The Plitvice lakes are on the agenda this week. On my bucket list, so I’m looking forward to it. Then heading towards Zagreb and into Hungary. We would like to stay longer in Croatia, but decided its better to focus on certain areas and next year we can do the south heading into Greece……
Krk….. and the Adriatic sea
