Wednesday we headed in the opposite direction from Torquay to Paignton. About a 40 min walk along the main road. It cuts into a coastal path closer to Paignton. We could see the coloured beach sheds along the boardwalk and the ancient pier with its amusements. Meandering along we were deciding on whether to walk to Brixham. To give you an idea of how far this is we could see it in the distance many bays away. We asked a local if we can walk the coastal path there, he said about 3 hours but yes. Jas then clearly stated I’m only doing it if we catch the ferry back. As it was his crazy idea to walk there in the first place i was like, no problem. So along we ambled. Beautiful scenery and weather. We had the steam train pass us a few times, so we made up our minds to take that in the coming days. Arriving in Brixham harbour, the pirate ship moored. The annual pirate festival was on only days before. We stopped for pasties and warm coffee. Asking for directions to the ferry, explaining we had walked from Torquay, more than one person thought we were a little crazy as it worked out 25km of walking. Booking our tickets for the ferry back Jas stopped and got fresh scallops from the fish market. Typical kiwis we cant resist fresh seafood. The passenger ferry back was interesting to say the least. George hated the gangway as it moved so he was bracing himself walking. Then we got on ferry and the vibration of the motor had him shaking. Jas nice and warm inside. George and I took to the top deck where he shook for the next 30mins back as we rocked back and forth with the waves. Luckily my seasickness was preoccupied with a shaking dog. Jas got the full history tour which he updated me on with the walk back from the marina. Feet up that night we enjoyed the scallops. .
